About 50 miles east of Akron and Canton is the small city of Youngstown (population 66,000).
Once a thriving steel–manufacturing center—Youngstown is on the rise again with more than 100 neighborhoods to choose from and the nation’s most affordable housing market (source: 24/7 Wall St.). Contributing to the city’s comeback is a revitalized downtown with new restaurants, apartments, and coffee shops. The city also has the first museum dedicated to American art, The Butler Institute of American Art, as well as Youngstown State University, and some of area’s nicest parks and interesting architecture.
